Maybe this sounds familiar?

You're the girl who does everything right:

good grades,

leadership roles,

volunteer work,

fun social life.

Always smiling and looking put together.

The whole package.

So why do you feel like you're drowning in anxiety?

The internal pressure to achieve even more while never feeling good enough.

The smile you put on when everyone asks how you're doing.

And that irritating voice in your head that says:

"Am I good enough?" "What if I fail?" "Why can't I just be happy and grateful with all I've achieved?"

Late at night, when the perfectionist mask comes off, the truth emerges.

You're tired. Very tired. Of pretending you have it all together and all figured out.

Of feeling like no one really sees the struggle beneath your success. It takes so much work to be you.

Of being the "perfect" daughter, student, friend, sister...while your anxiety silently spirals.

Your parents mean well, but they don't really get it.

"You have so much to be grateful for! Why are you so stressed? Just breathe!"

Your friends are either competing with you or complaining about their own drama.

Your professors see your effort, not your worth. Your smile fools them.

And your love life? It's either non-existent or you're in a serious relationship that isn't really what you want (and you secretly wish you weren't so tied down).

You're left feeling alone in a room full of people who think you've got it all.

The exhaustion. The overthinking. The perfectionism.

The fear.

If this feels familiar, then you've landed in the right place, sweet girl.

You are in the right place because I know how to help girls just like you!

I'm here to support you, listen to you, and give you ready-to-use strategies during each session to make your life easier.

It's not about being perfect; it's about learning to love yourself and to rely on yourself (you are amazing and capable and I'll prove that to you until you believe it).

It's time to break free from your negative spirals, and I'll teach you exactly how.

When Your Mom Isn’t Who You Need Right Now (And Why That’s Totally Okay)

May 26, 20252 min read

When Your Mom Isn’t Who You Need Right Now

(and that’s okay)

Let’s go ahead and say it out loud:

Sometimes your mom isn’t the person you need in this moment.

And guess what?

This doesn’t make you a bad daughter.

It doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful.

It doesn’t mean you don’t love her.

It means you’re human.

It means your relationship with your mom is real.

And real relationships (especially between mothers and daughters) can be emotionally electric: one minute you’re besties laughing on the phone and the next you’re shutting down mid-text because she just doesn’t get it.

If this hits, please know you’re not alone.

You’re Evolving, and That’s Hard on Both of You

Being a high school senior or college girl means you’re going through a lot of change.

Academic pressure, friend drama, relationship issues, roommate weirdness, career questions... it’s overwhelming.

And even though your mom may love you deeply, sometimes her words feel off, her advice feels outdated, or her reactions feel too big.

Maybe you’re dealing with something you don’t want her to know.

Maybe you’re afraid she’ll worry.

Maybe she’ll get mad.

Or maybe you just need a conversation that doesn’t come with the entire family history and an emotional outburst.

You’re not wrong for feeling that way.

It’s Normal to Need Someone Else to Talk To

Sometimes, what you really need is:

  • Someone who will listen without jumping to conclusions

  • Someone who won’t judge you for what you’re feeling

  • Someone who can help you think clearly without piling on guilt

  • Someone who helps you figure out what to do next

That’s where I come in.

I’ve spent decades supporting teen girls and college women, first as a high school assistant principal and English teacher, and now as a life coach for college and teen girls.

I know how overwhelming this time in your life can feel.

You’re trying to grow into your independence while still being connected to the people who raised you.

That’s hard.

But you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

And you don’t have to pretend you’re fine when you’re not.

What You Can Do Right Now

If this blog post speaks to you, consider it your gentle nudge to book a free mini life coaching session with me.

We’ll talk about what’s been weighing on your heart and how to move through it.

No pressure. No judgment. Just support, clarity, and the space to breathe again.

Because sometimes, the most loving thing you can do, for yourself and your mom, is to get the support you need from someone else.

I remember the women who helped guide me when I was a teenager, and they were essential in creating the foundation of who I am today.

It was nothing against my own mother, I just needed a different perspective.

You’re stronger than you think you are, and I’ve always got your back.

🩵, Suzanne
