Maybe this sounds familiar?

You're the girl who does everything right:

good grades,

leadership roles,

volunteer work,

fun social life.

Always smiling and looking put together.

The whole package.

So why do you feel like you're drowning in anxiety?

The internal pressure to achieve even more while never feeling good enough.

The smile you put on when everyone asks how you're doing.

And that irritating voice in your head that says:

"Am I good enough?" "What if I fail?" "Why can't I just be happy and grateful with all I've achieved?"

Late at night, when the perfectionist mask comes off, the truth emerges.

You're tired. Very tired. Of pretending you have it all together and all figured out.

Of feeling like no one really sees the struggle beneath your success. It takes so much work to be you.

Of being the "perfect" daughter, student, friend, sister...while your anxiety silently spirals.

Your parents mean well, but they don't really get it.

"You have so much to be grateful for! Why are you so stressed? Just breathe!"

Your friends are either competing with you or complaining about their own drama.

Your professors see your effort, not your worth. Your smile fools them.

And your love life? It's either non-existent or you're in a serious relationship that isn't really what you want (and you secretly wish you weren't so tied down).

You're left feeling alone in a room full of people who think you've got it all.

The exhaustion. The overthinking. The perfectionism.

The fear.

If this feels familiar, then you've landed in the right place, sweet girl.

You are in the right place because I know how to help girls just like you!

I'm here to support you, listen to you, and give you ready-to-use strategies during each session to make your life easier.

It's not about being perfect; it's about learning to love yourself and to rely on yourself (you are amazing and capable and I'll prove that to you until you believe it).

It's time to break free from your negative spirals, and I'll teach you exactly how.

Click below and schedule your free mini session: it's time to feel calm and in control!

Do PERFECT Insta friend posts trigger your insecurity? Here are 3 ways to cope.

Do PERFECT Insta friend posts trigger your insecurity? Here are 3 ways to cope.

May 01, 20266 min read

Those end-of-semester, prom, homecoming, sorority, formal, beach weekend, graduation, etc. friend group posts on Instagram appear so PERFECT.

You know EXACTLY what I’m talking about because you’ve seen the posts from girls who have planned this photo dump for months.

They hired a super expensive but highly-recommended-on-socials-by-cool-people photographer.

They carefully hung the banner, which appears absolutely flawless and created by Monet himself.

They meticulously edited photos and only chose the PERFECT representation of their "best semester ever" with their "forever friends!"

Their outfits were coordinated and required a color scheme, hem lines were a certain length, and the shoes were aligned with the vibe.

Hair was blown out and make-up flawlessly applied.

I almost forgot the most essential part: only the “right” girls have been invited to the shoot or are chosen for the post.

We can never know the qualifications for participation in the post, because they vary and depend on who just hooked up with whose boyfriend (someone can get dropped reallllll quick).

It’s so funny how it all works, isn’t it? It can be incredibly entertaining when you decide you’re not going to be jealous.

These girls are also hiding a lot of drama in plain sight, if you have a trained eye.

Let me teach you how to see through the bullshit.

Let's understand what these posts are doing to your brain and your heart.

Instagram perfectionism lies to us and makes us ignore the obvious.

All we see when we look at the friend posts is:

WHY DON’T I HAVE A FRIEND GROUP LIKE THIS?

WHY DO I NEVER GET INVITED TO THESE PHOTO SHOOTS?

I WAS AT THAT FORMAL WITH THEM!! WHY AM I NOT IN A PIC SHE POSTED?

WHY DID I JOIN IN THAT PHOTO SHOOT WHERE I DIDN’T LIKE ANYONE THERE ANYWAY?

WHYYYYYYY??

This response is what Instagram wants you to have. Because then you crave more. Then you obsess and spend hours rotting and scrolling on your bed, wishing this was your life.

The algorithm loves your obsessions and feeds you more as if you are a starving little falcon who needs the dripping blood of an innocent rabbit to survive. (this image was meant to make you uneasy)

Now it’s time to see through the posts and the pressures and learn to live your precious life again.

Coping Strategy #1: become a master bullshit detective

You can see through their photo theatrics by looking closely at the body language of the photo participants.

Notice who stands super close to each other: whose arms naturally gravitate toward each other? Who seems to create distance between each other?

Notice their posture: who is standing tall and confident? Who has hunched shoulders? Who seems intimidated or uncomfortable? Who is leaning back at a gravity defying angle?

Notice their smiles: which ones look glued on? Who is faking it? Who looks genuinely happy? Who just wants it to be over? Who is pissed that she is on the end?

Notice the line-up order: who is in the center and wants to appear as the leader? Who is on the outskirts of the group? Who was placed in the shadows or on the end?

Notice their outfits: does it seem like some got the memo and others didn’t? (that means they were purposefully left out…so gross)

Notice their eyeballs: is someone cutting a look at an onlooker in the crowd? Is someone looking dead inside?

Learning how to read body language is a skill that aids you in keeping your own feet on the ground. Seeing something for what is really is helps you remain centered in the truth.

Coping Strategy #2: remind yourself what unstaged looks like

Another trick is to find a photo dump of your own friends or random people on Insta or TikTok that is a genuinely unstaged.

Analyze the body language, the smiles, the open mouthed laughs, the positioning of people.

I would guess the group has diverse fashion, varying hair styles, and an embracing of unique vibes (think a mix of boho and sporty and Wednesday and bougie and preppy and outdoorsy).

If it’s unstaged, then there is chaos, goofiness, belonging, and joy.

You can’t manufacture that kind of authentic connection.

I encourage you to LIKE these posts and COMMENT about their authentic fun!

We can start a movement here, ladies. We feed the algorithm, and it can actually be positive.

Coping Strategy #3: create your own perfect photo sesh in your mind

I want you to take a few moments and really consider what your unique friend photo shoot or photo dump would look like.

Imagine the people (remember we’re going for authenticity so include all the people you love–even the goofball in your class who you snap all day that is one of your favorite people on the planet). Picture these people all together. I bet you're already smiling.

Imagine the location. Dream big. Where would you go? It also could be your favorite diner that serves up the best cheeseburgers in town. Your call.

Imagine the props. Some friend photos are hysterical when people bring in random props. What would your friends bring along?

Imagine the interactions and angles. How would you creatively set up this shoot or post? How would everyone be lined up, or maybe it’s a pyramid!

Sit back for a minute and smile at your photo design. This post has zero social media expectations of perfection. The only requirement is that it is FUN and represents YOU and your friends.

THAT, my friend, is what a real photo post looks like! Not girls standing in a line awkwardly bending backward while trying to hold in their stomachs.

Or with her right arm thrown straight up in the air (when we know she hooked up with the girl in the middle's boyfriend last week).

Normal is the new normal.

I think it’s imperative I include that in my experience, the most authentic and truly genuine friend groups are SMALL. It is impossible to have 12 girls get along like besties. That is not real.

Remember, I spent 25 years in high schools mostly as an assistant principal and now I’m a College Girl Life Coach…I’ve seen some serious girl knock-down-drag-outs and drama that you couldn’t imagine!

We can make this trend toward highlighting photos of real life and real relationships happen.

You have the power to positively influence how the algorithm feeds you and others.

Your likes, your encouraging comments on the real posts, and your dedication to not participating in perfectionist posts will start a movement!
